Eat Strawberry Tuxedo
May 14th, 2006 | Category: Chocolate, Dessert
Turkish food bloggers’ “Eat Strawberry” theme got me thinking… Is there a better way to eat strawberries than to just dip them in powdered sugar?
After all, isn’t that the purest and most delicious way of eating them? How do you include this delicate fruit in something you bake and not loose its texture or overshadow its taste?
If anything, a better way would be to dip them in chocolate.
How can something dipped in chocolate not taste heavenly? Even better, how can something dipped in two different types of chocolate not taste heavenly? There is no way.
Strawberry Tuxedo
Ingredients
- 15 strawberries
- 3 ounces bitter chocolate
- 3 ounces white chocolate
Method
Chop chocolates and place in separate bowls. Place these bowls over a pot of barely simmering water and let stand until melted. Stir until smooth and let cool a little bit. Dip one side of the strawberries in white chocolate and place on a baking sheet. Refrigerate for 10 minutes. Dip sides of the strawberries in bitter chocolate. Back to the refrigerator for 10 more minutes… Dip a thin paint brush in bitter chocolate and draw the bow tie and buttons.

cenk..this is awesome!!! looks sooooo yummy and classy…and i truly think that this is the most simple yet creative one of all the “eat strawberry” theme creations…i wish we could have those giant strawberries that they sell in U.S. but the ones that are sold in turkey are relatively smaller
looks great for after dinner
Cilek - Cok tesekkurler. Ben de en kisa zamanda sizin cilekli pankek tarifinizi deneyecegim.
Arzu, Lale, Obur Kedi - Guzel yorumlariniz icin tesekkurler.
Keiko - Thank you very much for the encouraging comment.
Swell - I also wish we had the giant strawberries in Turkey, too. I remember the ones that were sold in Pier 39 in San Francisco.. they were nearly the size of a tennis ball.
That looks really great - I can only imagine the patience you had to have to paint those strawberries!
That is so CUTE. Can I order a dozen?
Godiva will make these for you if you’re really nice and order ahead. It’ll cost, tho.
Also, if you have a candy thermometer, the proper way to temper chocolate for dipping is to raise it to 100 and then lower it to 89 (where you dip)

These are so cute! We were served a few at a Restaurant Association dinner last year and they were a hit with everyone. Thanks for the info!
this is fabulous….the tuxedos are so cute……
The design looks amazing despite the simple preparation - and yes, they look really delicious! I love chocolate myself and having it would certainly enhance the taste of strawberries!
