What else has been cooking?
March 07th, 2007 | Category: Memoir/Meme/Misc.
It has been rather a dull month in the kitchen. My diet is to blame… I even shied away from reading fellow food bloggers to resist any temptation whatsoever.
But I always manage to find things to make life more interesting. Lately, I have been busy with something other than baking.

CowParade is coming to town! For those who have never heard of CowParade before, take a look at the amazing creations here.
CowParade is the world’s largest public art event. As CowParade travels through cities worldwide, each city’s artists are challenged by the art from past events, inspired by the cultural influences of their respective cities and transform their interpretation of the cow to an art object. The event ultimately benefits charity. At the conclusion of each event, the cows are herded up and many are auctioned, with a substatial portion of the proceeds benefiting charity. For instance, the Chicago auction raised an amazing $3,000,000.00 for charity and the average bid price on 140 cows was nearly $25,000, with the top cow selling for $110,000.
After the call for artists ends, a number of entries are chosen to be transformed into real life sizes. Some are also produced as figurines and sold worldwide.
This year, between August 1st and October 31st, streets of Istanbul will be filled with these wonderful creatures. As they do with each event, a call for artists has been issued. As a fan of CowParade cows myself, I couldn’t help but participate.
Here is what I have come up with so far. Fingers crossed!
The Evil Eye - Inspired by the traditional Turkish evil eye talisman stone called nazar boncugu.

And The Maiden Moower - Inspired by one of the most beautiful landmarks of Istanbul, The Maiden Tower.

I your rendition of the cow and the name, The Evil Moower. The photo below of Kiz Kulesi on top of a cow is equally cool. It makes me think: “Got evil thoughts? ” aka “Got milk?”
