Another year has passed. Here is a quick recap of the most popular posts of 2007.
David hosted January’s Sugar High Friday event and I baked Chocolate Caramel Pot de Creme from one of my favorite cookbooks of the year, The Sweet Life: Desserts from Chanterelle by Kate Zuckerman.
The highlight of February was the story I wrote about my first day in San Francisco. Vanskapkaka, the imaginary St. Olaf friendship cake from the TV show “The Golden Girls” accompanied the post.

New Design

It has been a long time since my last post, but I had an excuse this time. My blog’s new design. I wanted to develop a unique design rather than using one of free Wordpress themes, and in order to do that I had to learn a bit of CSS. It is much more fun than it sounds.
So what’s new? A couple of things…
First of all, there is a whole page dedicated to explaining ways to subscribe to Cafe Fernando. It may make your life much easier!
Secondly, I finally got around to compiling all the conversion tables into a single page. These tables will help answer questions like “How many grams is a cup of flour?”. It will be very useful for people who are struggling with US measurements.
Sharing your favorite posts is much easier now. You can click on the “E-mail to a friend” button at the end of each post, which will automatically open up an email client with the permalink of the post pasted in the body. Then, all you have to do is enter the recipient’s e-mail address and press send. You can also share the posts with friends at Stumble Upon, del.ici.ous or Facebook by clicking on their respective logos.
I hope you like the new design and find it more user friendly. Any comments or suggestions, drop me a line.

I would like to thank the judges of last month’s DMBLGIT event for honoring me and Sara of Food and Paper for hosting the event.
My photo below was awarded Winner in Edibility. Apparently, all the judges died to take a bite (that’s the criteria) and a few of them even licked the screen (OK, that’s a lie).
