Korova Cookies

Today, Cafe Fernando turns two years old and I would just die if I don’t mark this occasion with my most favorite cookies of all time: Korova Cookies.
These cookies made their debut in “Paris Sweets: Great Desserts from the City’s Best Pastry Shops” by Dorie Greenspan. There is another very impressive person behind the recipe - the man Vogue magazine once called “The Picasso of Pastry.” No, it’s not David Lebovitz (he is the Monet). It’s Pierre Herme.

Dulce de Leche and Chocolate Pudding
March 13th, 2008 | Category: Chocolate, Dessert

Last week, we feasted on a selection of delicious cheeses Mahir and Vera brought back from their trip to Amsterdam. These two generous friends not only shared their cheese but also fed me with incredible side dishes and cocktails. While Mahir was busy preparing us Mojitos, Vera was arranging the side dishes on her grand collection of antique plates - handpicked from flea markets around the world.
Brie with chives, cumin Gouda, Camembert, Parmigiano Reggiano and Oude were some of the cheeses we tasted alongside Vera’s roasted vegetables, tapenade, some other cold cuts and finally the dessert I prepared for the occasion: Dulce de Leche and Chocolate Pudding.

Valentine’s Day Recipes
February 14th, 2008 | Category: Chocolate, Tart

If you’re still looking for Valentine’s Day recipes, here are some last minute ideas from my archives.
For me, a Valentine’s Day recipe must include chocolate. I am sure you agree with that statement. Strawberries and/or raspberries would make it even better (after all, you need something red). The most delicious combinations for these ingredients (from my previous posts) are the strawberry tuxedo, mini raspberry tarts decorated with bittersweet chocolate and pistachios, and my favorite, strawberry tart with vanilla pastry cream and milk chocolate shavings on top.
