Picture this… San Francisco… Nineteen ninety eight…
On a foggy Fall morning, a Turkish guy landed at The San Francisco International Airport.
Sleepless from a 14-hour flight and stressed by the unpleasant wait of his student visa, which arrived 10 hours prior to his flight, his exhausted body and soul needed nothing but rest.

New Year’s Eve at The Mansion
January 07th, 2007 | Category: Baked Goods, Dessert, Ralph & The Mansion

It has been a tradition for over 10 years that everyone gather at “The Mansion” for New Year’s Eve Dinner. I have been attending for the last four years and can not think of another place to celebrate the coming of a new year. Dessert menu was set by the lady of the house and I thank her for that because with the abundant number of cookbooks I have been reading lately, it would have been very tough to choose something. She wanted a Chocolate Strawberry Cake.

Lately, I have developed a huge interest on all things Julia Child. I have ordered many of her books and her DVDs from Amazon. It is no surprise that a lot of people are obsessed with her. It is much more obvious after reading “My Life in France”. As the title suggests, it is a memoir of her life and culinary adventures during her Paris years. Her passion about food, all the details she can remember about the food she ate 50 years ago and how she takes all of these so seriously is mind blowing. More on my recent Julia Child obsession later…
